在1960年代嬉皮盛行的時候，
紐約出現了一個搖滾音樂劇，
這部名叫“Hair”（長髮族？）的音樂劇，
反應的是嬉皮的人生觀，
1967年初演時，不在百老匯上，
但是兩年後，就正式在百老匯的劇院上演，
而且大受歡迎。
劇裡的這首歌“Aquarius”（水瓶座）
在1969年的熱門歌曲排行榜上榮登寶座達六個星期之久，
在1970年的葛萊美獎（Grammy）競賽中也大放異彩，
除了唱片大賞之外，也獲得最佳樂團歌唱獎。

這個別出心裁的搖滾音樂劇，
作詞是James Rado 和 Gerome Ragni，
作曲是Galt MacDermot。
除了題材新穎之外，Hair 雖然結構簡單
卻也跟傳統的音樂劇不同。
平常的一個音樂劇，大約有十來支歌曲，
Hair的歌曲多得三十多守。
1979年這部音樂劇也拍成電影。

“Aquarius”單張唱片是由節奏藍調樂團The 5th Dimension演唱。
“Aquarius”（水瓶座）是西洋星座之第十一宫，
日期是1月20日—2月18日，
歌詞大意是當天上星座如何如何時，
水瓶座的時代即將來臨，
那個時候，世界只有和平與愛。
在越戰方興未艾，許多年輕人被征召而戰死異鄉的年代，
只是很吸引人的一個主意。
